Dear Sir / Madam,
We like to inform you about the writing of the FPS Economy to recognized bodies (Note 74 dd. September 9, 2016). See hereafter.
More particularly, the FPS give explanations on "the admitted classes on the fire behavior of electrical conduits."
This note describes the link between the classifications of art. 104 of the AREI-RGIE (F1, F2, SA, SD, ...) and the classifications that are included in the standard EN50575: 2014 / A1: 2016.
We liked to inform you of this.
Should you have any further questions, please let us know.
Best regards,

Subject: Article 104 of the General Regulations for Electrical Installations (AREI-RGIE) - Admitted classes of the reaction to fire performance of electrical conduits.
In implementing the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/364 from July 1st 2015 on the classification of the reaction to fire performance of construction products pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council, Article 104 of the AREI-RGIE should be adjusted as soon as possible to meet these regulatory changes.
In the framework of the aforementioned EU Council Regulation 2016/364 and according to a recent communication of the European Commission, the standard on the reaction to fire performance of electrical conduits for power, control and communication for use in construction works enters into force from June 10, 2016.
According to the same communication, the respective national standards may continue to coexist with the European standard and may be applied until July 1, 2017. Indeed, a coexistence period shall apply from June 10, 2016 to July 1, 2017. This was in particular provided in the following notice:
Commission communication in the framework of the implementation of Regulation (EU) N° 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonized conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC
Based on the Regulation 2016/364 and on the communication of the European Commission of June 10, 2016, the classes indicating the reaction to fire performance of electrical conduits, as stated in Article 104 of the AREI-RGIE, should be implemented without delay.
In this context, it is useful to recall the direct effect of a regulation on the basis of which such a regulation is directly applicable in each EU Member State without requiring a conversion. It is however possible that such regulation may require specific implementation measures. Further attention is drawn to the European jurisprudence, according to which the Member States are obliged during the transposition period of a directive to abstain from actions that could seriously jeopardize the achievement of the result prescribed by the Directive. By analogy, this jurisprudence can also be applied in the implementation of a regulation. Consequently, and in anticipation of the royal decree amending the Article 104 of the AREI-RGIE it is possible since June 10, 2016 to refer to the new classes on the reaction to fire performance as defined in EN 50575: 2014 / A1: 2016.
Please find below a table of correspondence between on the one hand the nomination of classes on the reaction to fire performance in the current AREI-RGIE and on the other hand on the nomination of classes on the reaction to fire performance of the standard EN 50575: 2014 / A1: 2016. It is further recalled that the fire resistance is not within the scope of the relevant standard. Therefore, this standard cannot be used for the conduits intended to be used in the construction works where it is essential that energy supply and/or signaling of safety equipment such as alarm installations, evacuation installations, firefighting installations, etc. remain insured.
Classes on the reaction to fire performance according to article 104 of the AREI-RGIE Classes on the reaction to fire performance according to harmonized standard EN 50575:2014/A1:2016
F1 ECa or a reaction to fire performance class higher than Eca
F2 Cca or a reaction to fire performance class higher than Cca
SA a1
SD s1
Classes on the reaction to fire performance according to article 104 of the AREI-RGIE | Classes on the reaction to fire performance according to harmonized standard EN 50575:2014/A1:2016 |

Insofar electrical conduits with a reaction to fire performance corresponding to the classes F1, F2, SA and/or SD have been put on the market before the end of the coexistence period (July 1, 2017), these electrical conduits may continue their operation without time limitation.
